WHAT WE DO
OUR PROJECTS
Special State Project
Every two years, members of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) vote on a statewide nonprofit volunteer organization to support. Clubs send in recommendations and a statewide vote is taken. The special state project for 2022-2024 is the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation. The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation provides New Jersey families facing the crisis of pediatric cancer a place to turn for comfort and support through professional in-home counseling and a uniquely tailored package of assistance – all free-of-charge.
Operation Yellow Ribbon
Operation Yellow Ribbon is a New Jersey non-profit consisting of all volunteers. A major focus is organizing donated supplies and goodies to send to our brave military men and women. Our club fills Christmas stockings each year with items useful to soldiers deployed overseas. We also write personal notes to express appreciation for their service.
Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to two Roxbury or Mt. Arlington residents who are high school seniors and planning to continue their post-secondary educations at either a college or technical/vocational school.
Girls' Career Institute
Girls’ Career Institute (GCI) offers a “mini college experience” at Douglass Residential College on the campus of Rutgers University. Delegates experience a sample of college life by living in a dorm, eating in a cafeteria, and attending lectures and workshops. They learn about career choices from volunteer professional speakers and how to network with other delegates from all over the State of New Jersey. Many establish lasting friendships with one another.
Operation Smile
We are currently working on creating and stuffing simple dolls for Operation Smile, which provides life changing surgeries all over the world for children who have cleft palates. The dolls are used as aids in counseling sessions to prepare the children for surgery.
Alzheimer's Walk
Since 2019, we have walked together as a team to raise support and awareness for Alzheimer’s research, and have been recognized as the highest fundraisers in our area.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Thanksgiving & Holiday Families
Every year, we adopt at least one family from Roxbury Social Services to provide Thanksgiving and Holiday meals, and Holiday gifts.
Emmanuel Cancer Foundation
This year we hosted a Giving Tree at our township library to collect gifts for the holidays
Cookies for Roots & Wings
We bake, sort and pack assorted cookies for local non-profits.
Blood Drives
Twice a year, we coordinate with New Jersey Blood Center to host life-saving blood and platelet drives. We combine our blood drives with a flower sale to help support our various charities.
Beautification
Almost every season our club decorates our township sign. It's a fun project and helps beautify our area.
